The British Society for Geomorphology are proud to be partners with the Flood Expo -

"The largest event of its kind in the world presenting solutions to widespread flooding problems from the world's leading flood prevention companies, alongside an extensive seminar and workshop schedule highlighting new, cost-effective ways to prevent and manage floods."

There is a growing appreciation of the role geomorphology can have during flooding. Not only can erosion, transport and deposition of material be potentially destructive to infrastructure and a risk to life, but careful control of landscapes and their geomorphology can help to reduce flood risk. We saw much of the work in this area during the joint session with the British Hydrological Society at our annual meeting last month.

To help further the understanding of the links between geomorphology and flood risk we have partnered with the Flood Expo, and the Society will have a stand at the event to be held next week, October 12th and 13th 2016 at ExCeL  London. Our very own, and University of Brighton's, Dr Annie Ockelford will present on the work of the Society, and the role of geomorphology in flood risk, at the event.

Tickets to the event are free but are running out - you can register for yours here.
