Venue:
Northumbria University and online

The Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences at Northumbria University is delighted to be hosting the 2022 edition of the British Society for Geomorphology’s Annual Meeting, which will take place from Monday 5th to Wednesday 7th September (inclusive).

The conference registration website ishttps://www.northumbria.ac.uk/about-us/news-events/events/2022/09/geomorphology-conference/https://www.northumbria.ac.uk/about-us/news-events/events/2022/09/geomorphology-conference/

The conference will follow the well-established format of oral and poster presentations, spread over three days, on a wide variety of geomorphological and geomorphology-related topics. Registration and accommodation costs have been kept to a minimum to promote participation, especially for postgraduate and other early career researchers.

The poster session and conference dinner will take place in the Wylam Brewery Palace of Arts in the late afternoon and evening of Tuesday 6th September. This is a 15-20 minute walk from Northumbria University's city campus and we can provide vehicle transfer for attendees with specialist mobility requirements.

A pre-conference fieldtrip is offered on Sunday 4th September. Participants will head to a series of remote Northumberland sites of geomorphological interest, with a primary focus on sites that are part of active or planned river restoration projects, and/or where river channels and their floodplains have been subject to recent extreme geomorphological perturbations linked to historical intervention. The trip will be led by professional geomorphologists from our local Environment Agency team.

A workshop organised by the BSG’s Professional Geomorphology network will be held on the morning of Monday 5th, before the main conference programme begins around lunchtime.

Please direct any questions to ‘[email protected]’.
