This year, this prestigious award is made to Professor Tavi Murray, Swansea University who has made significant and sustained contributions to glacial geomorphology through an impressive portfolio of research and publications. She has made significant contributions to our understanding of cold regions, with notable contributions on fast glacier flow, glacier instability and glacier surging, understanding the geomorphological and sedimentological processes at the bases of glaciers, and identifying the present and potential future contribution from glaciers to global sea level rise. She was given the BSG Warwick Award in 2000 and the Polar Medal in 2006.
