The BSG is an independent organisation with charitable status in the UK. It has official links and affiliation to: The Royal Geographical Society (with the Institute of British Geographers), the Geological Society of London and the International Association of Geomorphologists. Computer (Internet) links are made to these organisations from the BSG website but these organisations do not have any rights concerning the terms of use of the BSG website. The BSG is not responsible for, nor assumes any liability for, the contents of these or other websites or home pages which are linked to the BSG's web pages (Please see 8 below).

The provision by the BSG of a link to another website does not constitute any authorisation by the BSG to you to access materials held at that location, or on that site, nor is it evidence of any endorsement by the BSG of the material held there.

The intellectual property covered by these regulations includes: (a) computer software; (b) Group commissioned literary and scientific works as defined in the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988; (c) registered and unregistered designs; and includes any intellectual property generated in the course of BSG held consultancies.

Exclusions

For the avoidance of doubt, the Group does not intend to assert ownership of copyright in books, articles, lectures or other written work or in computer-related work other than that specified in (a) and (b) above, except where in any such case such work is specifically commissioned by the BSG or is produced by any person specifically employed to create and develop intellectual property for the BSG. The BSG will also not assert ownership of any intellectual property developed in any materials produced in the course of private or professional work as an employee of any other organization.

4. When you view the BSG website some information may be stored on your computer. Privacy Policy and Statement

The BSG abides by the Data Protection Act 1998. The BSG holds personal data about its members (data subjects), which are processed in accordance with the requirements of the 1998 Data Protection Act. With certain exceptions, you have the right to obtain a copy of any such data held about yourself, for which the BSG will make a charge of £10. On receipt of the data you would also receive a description of the data, information necessary to make it intelligible, the purpose for which it is held, the sources and likely recipients of the data and information about any automatic decision-making processes. The processing of all personal data held on BSG's computers must comply with the 1998 Act. The Act covers not only computerised data but also data held on any medium (paper, film, video or audio tape etc.).

The Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988

Under this Act it is an offence to copy documentation or software without the permission of the owner of the copyright. In addition to observing the copyright users must also comply with the terms of any license agreement made by the BSG with any third party which governs the use of the software.

The BSG is a charity working on behalf of the UK geomorphological community. The contents of this site are © BSG 1996-2004. The Computer Misuse Act 1990

This Act makes it a criminal offence to attempt to access, use or alter any computer data, program or service to which you have not been granted authorised access rights.
