Marjorie Sweeting Dissertation Prize

This is presented to the best undergraduate geomorphological dissertation undertaken at a UK university.

The BSG are pleased to announce that the 2009 Marjorie Sweeting Award has been won jointly by Alexander Lane (Southampton) and Sally Tyldesley (Sheffield).

Alexander Lane (Southampton): "A study into the extent of variations in channel morphology associated with a geological transition along the River Meon, Hampshire."

Sally Tyldesley (Sheffield): "Balance-velocity modelling of the spatial complexity of Antarctica ice sheet flow."


With commendations to the also excellent runners-up.

Hancock, Llew (Gloucestershire) 'Palaeohydraulic reconstruction of a glacial outburst event using HEC-RAS in the Ferpecle Valley, Val d'Herens, Switzerland.

Harrison, Peter (Bristol): An Investigation Into The Retreat Of Helheim And Kangerdlugssuaq Glaciers In Greenland Using Satellite Derived Synthetic Aperture Radar Data.

Milne, Hannah (Aberdeen): Climate of the Loch Lomond Stadial in Perthshire and the Cairngorms.
